Standing in front of the fridge mixing paints

Is mixing paint straight from the gallon the artist’s equivalent of standing in front of the fridge eating cheese with the doors open?

I haven’t fully set up my new painting space, I don’t have mixing palletes established, so I find myself mixing straight from the gallon. A little lazy, but freeing as well. I need to have a gallon of Utretcht Titanium White and Utrecht Ivory Black in stock at all times. These cornerstone colors allow for a full spectrum of mixing with a very heavy, fully weighted paint. Some other paint brands are thinned with filler and water, but these allow a starting point that rivals oil paints in their steadfastness. Buying these by the gallon also gives me some long term savings, coming in at a little more than a $1 per ounce, whereas some other colors are easily $6 an ounce for more. This does require purchasing in bulk to get these savings, but as someone who lefts texture and wants their paintings to sometimes achieve a sculptural dexterity, this allows me to build layers and concrete depth. There is a tooth to these colors, I don’t have to worry about it running or drying completely flat.
